| The contest offers the opportunity for singers to advance to the National Level and showcase their talent to the public in a showroom setting of a major casino. The current categories for competition are: Male Pop/Rock/R&B, Female Pop/Rock/R&B, Male Country/Western, Female Country/Western, Male Age 50 & Over and Female Age 50 & Over. The local level competition begins each year in February and runs over a series of weeks through the end of June in local night clubs, casinos and other venues. The top winners in each category of the local level contest advance on to the regional level contest. The regional level competition is where winning contestants from the local level clubs and venues compete for the regional title for their area. The top winners of each regional competition then advance on to the Nationals held in the river resort town of Laughlin, Nevada at the Tropicana Express Hotel & Casino Showroom. Although the terms "National Level" and "National Finals" are commonly used, in recent years the competition has attracted contestants from other countries around the world. The National Finals is a week-long event held in September. It is where contestants from around the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and other countries compete for the Talent Quest Title. |
